My night in L&D

So, I've been having lovely lower back pain for about a week now, and I'm used to having kidney infections and kidney stones so I've been playing it off as that just trying to make it to my next appointment at my dr's office. Well, Sunday it got pretty bad so I decided to call the Dr. on call for my office. He told me that he thought it sounded more like preterm labor and to go to the hospital.

We get there, answer all the questions, and get hooked up to the monitor and the nurse looked at me like I was crazy and asked if I could feel the contractions that were like 3 minutes apart. I said yes, but I just figured since I'm only 34 weeks that it wasn't real labor just BH. I've been having those contractions for about a week now and they always end up stopping, so I figured I was right. I then told her I've also been having really bad cramping. (Now I kinda feel like a dork for not thinking it was labor...haha)

My doctor told me that after 34 weeks they don't do much to stop your labor. He told the nurse to give me a shot of trebutaline (medicine to stop labor). But if that didn't work, we'd have a baby. I was like, "WHAT??" Stop away! Stop away! It slowed the contractions so we got to come home.

I still had contractions all night, but they weren't as strong. But let me tell you, that medicine is nasty! Has anyone ever had it? It made me feel so shaky and nauseous and dizzy...GROSS! Top that off with some percocet, and it made for a fun night!!!

So I could still have a kidney stone and that could be causing all this (my culture came back negative for an infection) but they can't do anything for it anyways, so I get to deal with it! Yippy! Maybe I won't have to make the decision about getting induced after all! Either way, I am NOT having this baby until after 38 weeks FOR SURE. I don't want another NICU baby and we all know that babies are MUCH easier inside than outside!! Although, I can't wait to meet him...but I will wait.

Happy Brithday, Lover

What an old fart! 24. Geez. Ha ha. Just wanted to say Happy Birthday Sean. You're amazing!

Nursery?? What!!!!

You heard me right, Mara is had her first week of nursery this Sunday. I knew she'd do fine. I was more worried about the other kids, because she tends to be....a little....outgoing. If ya catch my drift. She normally scares the other kids because she wants to play with them or give them a kiss and a hug.

We set her down and off she went. Didn't even look back. Half way through she had a poopy so they took her to Sean. He changed her bum and took her back a little worried that she wouldn't want to go back. Umm, no. As soon as he set her down she was off and running. That's my girl for ya! We took pictures of her that morning because she looked so big!

The cutest part about the whole thing? The picture she colored and was so excited to show to mommy when she got home! It is posted on our fridge. Our first artwork on our fridge! So exciting. Plus, I think Mara thought it was awesome we would hang it up!

My Big Girl!

In preparation for our next arrival, we needed to transition Mara to her Big Girl Bed. I lovingly made her a new quilt, and we received a wonderful toddler bed that has gone through almost all of my cousins but started with Brooke! I was TERRIFIED to do it. The bed sat in my parents garage for ages. One day I finally got the guts and so we set it up.

That face pretty much says it all. She is in love. She always wants to be in here bedroom now playing on her big girl bed. If only you could hear her say it, it is BEYOND cute. It sounds something like, "bi gool" How did the first nap go? AMAZING. She layed in it, I walked out of the room and about two hours later I hear her singing to herself (she does that everytime she wakes up). She didn't even get out of the bed herself. She sleeps all night long and never gets up either. We could not have been more thrilled at how smoothly it all went. Plus, we still have the crib set up in her room in preparation for Logan and she doesn't even care. Infact, when asked where the baby bed is, she walks over to the crib! It's so fun. I think she transitioned so easily because we did it at the age she is. A little early by most standards, but I think she was ready!

This is Roo playing in her bed. She loves it so much!

Brett (aka Brettbuddy)

Mara LOVES her uncle Brett. Not that she doesn't love her other uncles, but she only has a nickname for him. She calls him Brettbuddy. We think it's because we started saying, "That's Brett-your buddy". Anyways, it is TOO cute!

Poor Brett had to have his knee reconstructed after a failed attempt at a knee repair last year. The surgery went well. But after about a week he started to get really sick. I mean the poor guy was in a lot of pain and drenched in sweat because of a fever...You know what that means. INFECTION. Basically the last thing you want to hear after surgery! So off to the University Of Utah Medical Center we go. He had to have another surgery to open it up and take a look and then they left it basically open to drain. GROSS! Anyways, he was one sick kid. We were there when he came out of surgery and got to see him. At his request I will not be posting pictures that were taken then. Poor guy was green he was so sick. Mara was terrified of him. That definitely wasn't her Brettbuddy. It was super sad. We went back two days later to see him and he was already doing much better. Gotta love antibiotics!! Mara was so happy to have her Brettbuddy back. She wouldn't stop giving him kisses.

We know it's hard to miss yet another Football season, but think how awesome you'll be next year with a new knee!!! We love you Brettbuddy!

Good Joke!

The Smiths were unable to conceive children and decided to use a surrogate father to start their family. On the day the proxy father was to arrive, Mr. Smith kissed his wife goodbye and said, 'Well, I'm off now.. The man should be here soon.'

Half an hour later, just by chance, a door-to-door baby photographer happened to ring the doorbell, hoping to make a sale. 'Good morning, Ma'am', he said, 'I've come to...'

'Oh, no need to explain,' Mrs. Smith cut in, embarrassed, 'I've been expecting you.'

'Have you really?' said the photographer. 'Well, that's good. Did you know babies are my specialty?'

'Well that's what my husband and I had hoped. Please come in and have a seat !.

After a moment she asked, blushing, 'Well, where do we start?'

'Leave everything to me. I usually try two in the bathtub, one on the couch, and perhaps a couple on the bed. And sometimes the living room floor is fun. You can really spread out there.'

'Bathtub, living room floor? No wonder it didn't work out for Harry and me!'

'Well, Ma'am, none of us can guarantee a good one every time. But if we try several different positions and I shoot from six or seven angles, I'm sure you'll be pleased with the results.'

'My, that's a lot!', gasped Mrs. Smith.

'Ma'am, in my line of work a man has to take his time. I'd love to be In and out in five minutes, but I'm sure you'd be disappointed with that.'

'Don't I know it,' said Mrs. Smith quietly.

The photographer opened his briefcase and pulled out a portfolio of his baby pictures. 'This was done on the top of a bus,' he said.

'Oh, my God!' Mrs. Smith exclaimed, grasping at her throat.

'And these twins turned out exceptionally well - when you consider their mother was so difficult to work with.'

'She was difficult?' asked Mrs. Smith.

'Yes, I'm afraid so. I finally had to take her to the park to get the job done right. People were crowding around four and five deep to get a good look'

'Four and five deep?' said Mrs. Smith, her eyes wide with amazement.

'Yes', the photographer replied. 'And for more than three hours, too. The mother was constantly squealing and yelling - I could hardly concentrate, and when darkness approached I had to rush my shots. Finally, when the squirrels began nibbling on my equipment, I just had to pack it all in.'

Mrs. Smith leaned forward. 'Do you mean they actually chewed on your, uh....equipment?'

'It's true, Ma'am, yes.. Well, if you're ready, I'll set-up my tripod and we can get to work right away.'

'Tripod?'

'Oh yes, Ma'am. I need to use a tripod to rest my Canon on. It's much too big to be held in the hand very long.'

Mrs. Smith fainted

Sorry if that offended anyone, I still haven't stopped laughing!

Sorry all

I have been terrible at blogging lately. Lets face it though, I've been terrible at life lately. We are lucky if I get ready for the day! My poor husband and daughter...

So, I've decided that I LOVE being pregnant during the summer. I've also decided that I HATE being pregnant in the summer. I love that I can be pregnant and have a tan, being tan always makes me feel better about myself. I hate that I'm constantly burning hot. I love that I don't look silly dressed in a shade shirt and shorts because that's what you wear during the summer (I was pregnant with Mara in the winter...so it stuck out a lot. But hey, I was hot!) I hate that even though it's summer some women in relief society think it's necissary to run the HEATER during our lessons. I love that I can go swimming basically every day. I hate that doing the most minimal house cleaning reduces me to one big sweaty stinky blob. But mostly I do really Love being pregnant in the summer time.

As most of you know, our lives are about the change. When I say change, I mean drastically change. Not only are we adding another cutie to our bunch, but Sean will also be going to school full-time and working full-time. Something we haven't done before. The full-time thing at least. I'm a bit nervous. Not that I don't think Sean can do it, cause I know he can, but because I don't know if I can do it. Sean really is the most amazing dad in the world. When he's home I don't change a single diaper, he puts Roo down for her naps, etc. I obviously do it when he's not here, but I think Mara is going to miss having him around. She is very much attached to her daddy. Then we'll add Logan to the mix, and I'm sure she's gonna feel like we ruined her entire world. (I'm preparing for the worst, hoping for the best) I'm mostly worried that I'll have a nervous breakdown or something. I had post partum depression pretty bad with Mara. I'm hoping that we don't have a repeat! BUT, I am SO lucky to have such amazing support from my family and friends. I KNOW we'll all make it through!

Well, how boring am I? No post in forever, and then this post has no pictures...BUT I do have a lot of pictures to post, but I have to do it at a later time! So stay tuned!
