Husband Tag

Husband Tag

1. Where did you meet? The first time we remember meeting was at the bus stop in third grade. But we met about three years before that and have pictures to prove it! Our T-Ball team picture!

2. How long did you date before you got married? We dated for a year, then he went on a mission, we wrote for only a year then took a year break...:), he got home and we "dated" for nine days before we got engaged and were married 8 weeks later...

3. How long have you been married? One year and Ten months

4. What does he do that surprises you? Nothing really. I think we know eachother too well.

5. What is your favorite feature of his? Hmm...that's hard to say...I love his eyes of course (how could anyone not?), I absolutely love his shoulders, he's got amazing hands, his lips are perfect...I guess I'll stop there so you don't vomit.

6. What is your favorite quality of his? He knows what's right, and he lives it daily. No one is perfect, but I think he is pretty darn close.

7. Does he have a nickname for you? Yes, and I'll be keeping them to myself thankyou very much!

8. What is his favorite color? His fav. color is blue, but his favorite color combination is red and black.

9. What is his facvorite food? What isn't his favorite food would be the shorter question to answer! He loves chicken and brocolli casserole, and lately he loves the way I make tacos. (I got a new recipe and they're amazing!)

10. What is his favorite sport? To play? To watch? He loves all sports. He can find a good game no matter what sport season it is.

11. When and where was your first kiss? August 14, 2003. It only took him 3 months to get up the nerve! What a cutie! It was in his parents basement on the couch. He was acting super weird all night, like getting really close to my face and then doing nothing...finally I told him I needed to go home because it was almost midnight so he did it! He was so nervous it was the cutest thing ever. It was his first kiss. I am still the only girl he has ever layed his lips on!

12. What is your favorite thing to do as a couple? Geez...that's a little personal! JK, umm....we both love laying on the hammock and talking. I promise he likes it too! He's not much of a talker in crowds, but he loves to have long talks with me!

13. Do you have any children? One daughter. And hopefully more on the way in the not too far future! No, I am not pregnant. No, we are not trying. I would just like another sometime soon! Still have to convince Sean thought...

14. Does he have a hidden talent? Oh, he has many!

15. How old is he? 23

16. Who said I love you first? He did. I didn't say it back to him for a while though. Too many bad experiences with guys to even think about falling in love! But it just happened and I was in denial for a while!

17. Whats his favorite type of music? He's pretty well rounded. But his all time favorites are still his "highschool" music. Like Weezer and stuff like that. As you can probably tell from our blog playlist.

18. What do you admire most about him? He is very determined.

19. Do you think he will read this? Not unless I tell him that I blogged about him!

The First Day of Fall

So tomorrow is officially the first day of Fall!! I'm so excited I can barely stand it! I love everything about this time of year. To kick off the day, I'm going to make my Pumpkin Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies!!! Yummy! I thought in celebration of the day I'd list just a few of my favorite things about autumn:
1. My favorite holidays are during Fall! Halloween and Thanksgiving
2. The crisp autumn air
3. Pumpkin everything
4. Gardiner Village
5. Getting to wear cute sweaters and boots
6. General Conference
7. The anniversary of when Sean proposed. Fall is a very romantic time of year to be engaged!
8. Anniversary of Sean getting home from the mish
9. It's finally ok to cook again because the house isn't so darn hot
10. Cuddeling with warm blankets next to the fireplace
11. Hot chocolate
12. Fall cleaning. I know that sounds weird, but I can't help it! I just love getting everything super clean and having a fresh start.
13. Long walks
14. Preparing for Christmas
15. Cool temperatures
16. Caramel Apples
17. Driving up the Canyon
18. The smell...punpkin, cinnamon, crisp air!!
19. Rain turning to Snow
20. No more lawn mowing
I thought I would include the recipe for the Pumpkin Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies (wow, that's a mouthful!):
4 Cups Flour
2 Cups Oats
2 Tsp. Baking Soda
2 Tsp. Cinnamon
1 Tsp. Salt
1 1/2 Cups Butter softenend (I substitute it with butter flavored shortening to cut calories)
2 Cups Brown Sugar
1 Cup White Sugar
1 Egg
1 Tsp. Vanilla
1 16 oz. can of Pumpkin
1 Cup Chocolate Chips
Combine Flour, Oats, Cinnamon, Baking Soda, and Salt. Cream together the Butter and Sugars. Beat until light and fluffy. Add Vanilla, Egg, and Pumpkin. Slowly mix in the dry ingredients. Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes of until a light brown color.
Makes 32 Cookies

Picture Overload!!!! No, seriously....

I somehow managed to get these pictures out of order in a terrible way! For the most part it starts from the most recent stuff. I'll just label as I go!

We got to babysit Mara's twin cousins Kayden & Maddux yesterday so we went to the park. I don't remember who's belly that is, because both of them looked like it! They got facinated with a huge tree and tried to climb it. They would get up a couple of feet and then slide down on their tummy's!

It was pretty hot so when I saw this drinking fountain I was excited! They all drank quite a bit, then I took a sip and realized it tasted like dirt! Gross!! Oops, sorry kids!
Mara's turn. She actually got soaked more than drank.
I'm trying to do fun things with her hair lately. This was my creation for the day.
She actually does like the grass
The huge tree they were trying to conquer!

She loves swings!
I thought this was fun because all four of them are in it!
I told him to smile so we could show his parents what a blast he had at the park...what a cheese ball!

This was a couple of days ago, I needed to get at least one picture of her and her leg warmers on here!
We went to the state fair with Steph and the boys last Saturday. I took this picture right before we left because I thought she looked super cute!

She was an angel at the Fair! She hardly made a peep!

This was Sean's birthday. Yes, he loves A1 which is why it was one of his gifts! Mara enjoyed chewing on it, as she does anything!
She has recently decided that grabbing the spoon while you're feeding her is the funnest thing in the world....
More fun hair stuff.
I was painting my toes the other night and she was just starring at me, so I decided to do hers! It was so cute!
She love this caterpillar. She sucks on the legs. I personally think it is extremely disgusting.

This picture was FOREVER ago! Hilary and Liz came over for lunch so we took a picture of the babies together! Liz was more exciting than me so they wouldn't look at me!
Don't laugh. Daddy dressed her! I actually love this outfit he just needs to remember to put some pants on her as well! It's her Jordan T-shirt and pink Nike's!
If I ever forget to bring a toy with us wherever we go, I no longer have to worry that she'll get bored because she thinks her shoes are the two best toys in the world!
Uncle Will is now out of the Marines so he read her a bedtime story!
Sean's graduation! I am so proud of you!

6 month appointment

This was actually about two weeks ago...I'm getting pretty bad at the blogging thing because our computer is officially dead. Anyways, Mara looks like a little chunk but don't let that fool you because my chunky monkey is only in the 37% for her weight (that is actually up from her previous appointments where she was in the 20%'s) Poor girl just looks chubbier than she actually is. The biggest surprise of all (acutally not really because she has been this long at every appointment, I just still can't get over it) she is in the 67% for length, and the least surprising thing of all? She is in the 70% for head circumference! I say least surprising because large heads run in Sean's family (wink, wink Steve!)

I have a million darling pictures I'm dying to post but unfortunately I cannot find my camera...I used it last night at Steph's house, but since she is on a plane to Germany I'll have to wait a week to see!

Update on our lives

I haven't been on her in a while, so I thought I should do a little update. It won't have any pictures because I'm too lazy right now, but I'll put some up later I promise.

The greatest thing? Sean graduated from the Corrections Academy and is now an official Corrections Officer. I'm very proud of him. He is always trying to do what is best for out little family and right now, this is what is! He is now doing on the job training that will last until October, then he will get assigned to a place and get his regular shift. Right now he works Mon-Fri 6am-2pm. He got the Athletic Achievement award (I'm pretty sure I'm not calling it the right word, but he's in bed so I'll correct it later if I'm wrong) in his class, which is pretty hard to get. He worked really hard for it, and I'm proud of him!

Mara is getting so big!! She will be 6 months old tomorrow, so I thought I should blog about all the fun things she does now, and all the milestones in her life thus far.

She can/is/has:
*Sit up by herself and play for as long as she wants. I say that because a lot of people consider sitting up to be for like two seconds, I consider my child a sitter when they can sit for as long as the feel like without falling over. Meaning, she has mastered the skill.
*Eating rice cereal, applesause, pears, sweet potatoes, carrots, and prunes.
*had many haircuts already. Her hair grows like a weed! But I won't let any child of mine grow a mullet!
* makes noises that sound more like words than babbles. Such as, mama, dada, and baba. No, I do not think she is talking, I know she isn't saying mom and dad on purpose, but it's cute to watch her language skills already developing.
*discovered a little bit of a sense of humor. She thinks the funniest thing in the whole world is when Mommy whacks dad on the head with a stuffed animal!! :)
*gets very distraught if Sean is trying to tickle me and I'm screaming. It's sad! So we make sure not to anymore in front of her.
*is now sick for the millionth time! Geez, poor little girl! She has a cold which unfortunately at 6 months old is not her first, it's more like her third. Fortunately she is now old enough to give her vapor baths and baby vapor rub to help her. She still hates getting suctioned and I still hate doing it, but she seems to understand it a little better now. Like that she can breathe better afterwards so it's ok...ish!
*Still wears mostly 3 month clothes, but fits into some 6 month things.
*just loves to "sing" during the hymns at church. She gets all worked up during them just a babbeling super loud (mom & dad are, so why shouldn't she? :) ) unfortunately she hasn't yet learned to stop when we do...
*Today at the grocery store she sat up in the cart like a big girl, instead of laying on her head in her seat. (whenever I'd put her seat up on the cart like you see, I couldn't see over her to steer it unless she was tilted...she mostly ended up in her seat in the basket of the cart, but then there was no where to put the stuff....so we were very happy today when she just chilled in there like a big girl!)
*is more content to just play by herself at times so I can actually work on all my projects. She has always loved to lay on a blanket and play by herself, but if I wasn't right there watching her, she'd get annoyed.
*loves our dog Babe. I say our dog, but really I mean Sean's dog as a kid. We take Babe on walks with us, and let her run in the side yard with us while we play on the swing set with Mara, and she giggles everytime Babe runs past her.

Winner, Winner!!!

I'm the winner! I never win anything, but I entered a contest to win a quilt kit. I won! I am so excited! And no, quilting is NOT only an old lady thing. These fabrics are bright, bold, trendy, and modern! I have been wanting to make a quilt with these types of fabrics for quite some time, but unfortunately quilting is terribly expensive! So as you can imagine I am still super happy! I'm always looking for a new project to do, (it drives my family absolutely crazy, because if I can't find one they normally become the object of my imagination...for example: we just re-did my mom's kitchen!!!!) If any of you are into quilting I would highly suggest you check out this woman's buisness blog, it's: http://www.laniejane.typepad.com/! The picture is the quilt that I will be making.
